This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, National Targeting Center - Operational Support Division in Sterling, VA. Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $121,316.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to$157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10). The Operational Support Division is responsible for providing the National Targeting Center (NTC) with a broad portfolio of services, assets, and other resources. The Branches within the Operational Support Division are responsible for facilities, personal property, procurement, physical security, continuity of operations, human resources, budget, firearms qualification, tactical training, and other areas. The Division works closely with operational and other mission support stakeholders to provide services and solutions that meet the high tempo operational demands of the NTC. This position serves as the Deputy Director of Operational Support Division with duties that include:
Planning, organizing, and evaluating work across all mission support areas in support of the NTC mission in order to resolve problems and prudently manage our resources. Planning, organizing, and directing the work of Operational Support Division Branches to meet higher level goals and objectives while supporting the continuing professional development of Branch Chiefs and championing employee engagement throughout the Division; Establishing and sustaining partnerships with all parts of the NTC enterprise, other governmental and international stakeholders within the NTC, and mission support service providers across CBP; Supporting a variety of employee support programs and initiatives within the Operational Support Division and across the NTC enterprise. Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Managing a professional, technical, and/or administrative program or program segment that had national impact; Providing expert and authoritative advice on program issues to officials of other organizations; Managing employees who are responsible for assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations along with analyzing and resolving potential problems with such operations; Providing technical and administrative supervision to the unit while establishing and carrying out specific action plans for accomplishing short-term goals and objectives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Secondary CBPO Enhanced Retirement Requirement:
The criterion is that knowledge, skill and ability in a position deemed to meet primary CBPO special retirement coverage is a mandatory prerequisite to satisfactorily perform the major duties and responsibilities of the job. In order to meet the requirements of this secondary CBP Officer position you must have permanently served in a primary CBP Officer Special Enhanced Retirement covered position, i.e. Customs Inspector , GS-1890, Immigration Inspector, GS-1816, Canine Enforcement Officer, GS-1801, or CBP Officer, GS-1895. If you currently serve in a permanent Secondary CBPO Enhanced Retirement covered position, you are exempt from this mandatory prerequisite. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/10/2020. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
