This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, National Targeting Center - National Security Threat Analysis Division in Sterling, VA. The work carried out by this position engages in developing sources of information for intelligence collection used for projecting data and/or estimates of future situations, developing trends and patterns, and producing studies and tactical data. This position starts at a salary of $121,316.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10). In this position you will supervise and direct the activities of a subordinate staff of Intelligence Research Specialists who engage in passenger targeting initiatives, the review of passenger inspection results, and the production and dissemination of tailored intelligence products. Your duties will include:
Providing day to day supervision over a workforce engaged in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating and disseminating intelligence information; Planning and developing branch programs including new technical strategies for improving intelligence efforts; Developing overall program objectives and operational guidelines; Ensuring control measures are established to provide necessary management feedback on quality of intelligence efforts; Overseeing the development of procedures and strategies for cooperation with Federal and foreign enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Ensuring timely performance and quality of work of subordinate employees under supervisory control; Evaluating performance and identify development and training needs; Determining and prioritizing office goals and areas of program emphasis; Direct utilization of personnel through sound position management; Directing proper utilization of assigned facilities and other resources; Recommend revision or modification of office wide policies, regulations, and procedures; Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 06/19/2020. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
