Budget Analyst

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Office of Budget, located in Sterling, VA. At the full performance level GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Assesses current and potential budget priorities and allocations made by Departmental, executive (i.e. OMB) and Congressional officials on the Bureau. Advises top management regarding these developments and their potential impact to Bureau and program resource levels. 2. Plans, coordinates, and directs all budget execution processes for a specified fiscal year. This includes monitoring program office allocations, operating plans, financial plans, mid-year, quarterly review and end-of-year processes. Analyze past budgetary and actual usage of funds to determine whether resources are properly allocated. Combines this information with known future needs and budgetary pressures to determine out-year impacts on funding levels. 3. Development of the Bureau's annual operating plans including tracking and monitoring of the Bureau's budget. 4. Reviews and analyzes data collected by the bureau's Activity Based Cost (ABC) Accounting system. 5. Works closely with the Budget Officer to distribute/assign work to other analysts in the office as well as review said work. Makes adjustments to accomplish workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely completion. 6. Performs a variety of analyses in support of bureau budgetary/fiscal processes and maintains records of all budget and financial related reports, compiling verbal and/or written summaries or reports as needed or requested by senior management officials. The Office of Budget has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Experience:
(1) Planning, preparing, analyzing, and monitoring annual and multi-year budgets; (2) Providing advice and assistance to management officials on the budget execution process; (3) Monitoring and evaluating financial program data from various financial systems/sources and consolidating the data to reflect an overview of the financial status of major programs and operations. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
