Intelligence Research Specialist

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, National Targeting Center - National Security Threat Analysis Division in Sterling, VA. The work carried out by this position engages in the collection, evaluation, and analysis of intelligence information used for projecting data and/or estimates of future situations, developing trends and patterns, and producing studies and tactical data. This position starts at a salary of $102,663.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $133,465.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $133,465.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this position you will serve as an expert in the collection, evaluation, and analysis of intelligence information. Your duties will include:
Reviewing and analyzing CBP border encounters based on detailed understanding of terrorist travel trends and normal passenger flows; Reviewing, researching and analyzing matches to targeting programs from a variety of sources; Representing the organization on the coordination of issues with law enforcement and intelligence community partners; Collecting and analyzing intelligence data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns profiles, estimates and studies; Preparing preliminary and finished intelligence products and disseminating the products to the appropriate officials.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Reviewing, processing, and evaluating intelligence information from a variety of sources using creative methodologies to develop trends/patterns/profiles/estimates/studies Developing intelligence collection plans, including the most complex and difficult assignments and collecting intelligence to support specific long range planning, programs, and activities Selecting the proper methods of dissemination for intelligence products and disseminating intelligence products Researching and analyzing information to develop and publish intelligence products Participating in and leading inter-agency committees and making agreements and commitments in accordance with received instructions Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 05/21/2020.
