The Software Quality Assurance Analyst 3 possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles and practices in the field of software quality assurance and testing as it relates to the business objectives of Asurion. This position will build, maintain and execute functional test, identify and analyze defects and ensure proper resolution of defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
The Software Quality Assurance Analyst 3 is responsible for assisting the Manager and/or Sr. Manager by facilitating assigned activities including the coordination of resources for approved Projects, system improvements, and ad-hoc or emergency requests.
The Software Quality Assurance Analyst 3 will maintain a strong understanding of the functional processes used by Asurion. An individual reaches this level by increasing contribution in technical expertise and/or people leadership by consistently acting as a team and project lead.
Candidate must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Essential Functions
o Assists with creation of testing processes and procedures with input from business teams, development, and IT Support.
o Supports the testing environment and the testing lifecycle by ensuring the proper resolution of defects with the assistance of the IT support teams
o Builds and reinforces superior working relationships with Clients and other Asurion departments
o Supports after hours tasks as required by the Manager and/or Senior staff
o Builds, maintains, and executes functional tests using automation tools and reports results using defined process and resources
o Analyzes and identifies system defects through functional, regression, and performance testing. Appropriately escalates these issues as defined by the processes
o Supports the testing environment and the testing lifecycle by ensuring the proper resolution of defects with the assistance of the IT support teams
o Works with off shore QA team. Acts as a technical resource for junior team members
o Quickly and accurately perform troubleshooting and repair of existing test scripts
o Develops automated testing scripts and code modules for testing automation
o Develops effective, maintainable code in a timely fashion
o Develops and helps maintain coding standards and techniques
o Follows established coding standards and techniques
o Participates in code reviews to ensure adherence to established coding and architectural standards
o Shows a strong attention to development detail, produces high-quality code
o Maintains a working knowledge of Asurion's applications and system integration and is able to understand changes in order to anticipate cross-system or cross-process impacts.
Required Qualifications
o BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field required
o Experience working within an Agile environment using Agile methodologies.
o 3 years of software testing or similar experience required
o 2 years of experience using common industry standard test automation tools (i.e. QuickTest Professional, SilkTest, Sellinium, Cucumber) required
o 2 years of Java experience
o Experience in all of the following: Building Testing Scenarios from Requirements; Requirements Review; Reading and using Use Cases; Developing Test Scripts
o Proficiency in Release Management and Testing processes, required
o Experience reporting testing results in a clear, detailed, and analytical style using fact-based metrics
o Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational database structures
o Strong analytical skills
o Strong written communication
Preferred Qualifications
o Experience being a technical leader for junior staff preferred
o API/Web Services Testing experience preferred
o Driving technical innovation through automation tools and processes preferred
