General Description and Scope of Role
The Data Center Architect reports directly to the Data Center Services Director. The successful candidate in this role leverages experience and skills required to provide thought leadership and final peer review of typical data center artifacts and activities. Lead by Example type of candidate will be successful in establishing key end to end process development in several key areas' including:
IT Solutions Engineering task
Data Center Analytics development
Mechanical Electrical Plant operations and execution processes
Key competencies include the following:
Project Management skills - ability to lead large complex projects with blended virtual teams.
Engineering skills - solid experience and familiarity with HVAC, Electrical (low voltage, high voltage), Telephony, Cabling, and Fire Suppression and Monitoring platforms.
Strong technology skills - current understanding of computing platforms (server, storage, network) components and how they translate into Data Center capacity characteristics
Communication and Teaming skills - ability to influence and manage cross functional Data Center and Infrastructure teams to maintain, audit and develop all key processes.
Financial skills - capable of managing complex business case financial data, construction bidding and budget payment analysis and reporting.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Architect is a functional expert in multiple relevant IT and Facilities disciplines (power, cooling, monitoring, fire suppression related infrastructure, and IT_ racking and stacking).
The Architect is responsible for validation/scoring and auditing all Data Center operations activities as a primary job focus initially.
Essential Job Functions
Validate and audit all essential Data Center Operations activities.
Data center space planning to include rack elevations, dashboard reporting, and vendor interface & change control processes (DC, MDF, and IDF).
Liaison for integrated critical systems, projects and factory model for just in time racks / cabling / infrastructure.
Leads thought leadership activities in the application and use of systems, tools, and processes within the critical systems scope.
Leads thought leadership activities and expertise in the business processes related to capacity and asset management.
Maintains a working knowledge of Asurion''s applications and system integration and is able to anticipate cross-system or cross-process impacts.
Supports an open, learning, and progressive environment to allow the team''s exploration of new solutions.
Ensures the DCS Director is informed of schedules and timelines, statuses, issues, mitigations and all other information necessary or requested.

Project Related Activities
In partnership with the DCS Director, this role will support the development of business case documents required to support future Asurion data center builds and expansion.
Develop capacity/consumption/forecasting model based on business supply and demand and consumption of Data Center Services.
Data Collection & Analysis, to support Business Case development and data center utilization and capacity planning.
Develop cost modeling for Data Center build/CoLo options to be incorporated within Business Case Options/Alternatives.
Manage/Liaison with consulting and engineering firms (CoLo, Design, Manufacture, Real-estate, Outsource, etc.) as necessary to execute the Data Center Strategy.
Develop solution(s) timeline(s) and milestones for build/CoLo options.
Manage engineering relationship and input for development of 5 year Data Center strategy and solution.
Consult with infrastructure engineering and operations teams to develop enterprise Data Center design/solutions.
During build and maintenance this position will program lead facility, engineering, and migration plans and development of supporting MOP/SOP''s.
This position will report directly to the DCS Director.
This position will support the build and maintenance of future data center solutions, supporting both Asurion operations.
This position will require some travel and the ability to work second shift (4pm-12am)
Experience and Educational Requirements
Bachelor''s degree and/or seven to ten years of Data Center management field. (An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered).
Skill in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis.
Working knowledge of Data center guidelines including, EIA-TIA 942-Uptime Tier standards.
Superior computer skills including common business applications such as MS Windows and MS Office including Excel, Word, Visio, Project and Access.
SDLC Use Case and Requirements development experience is highly desirable
Experience in HRMS suite, data conversion and migration, interface design, and best practice implementation.
Strong functional and technical understanding of PeopleSoft HCM Modules
Experience with development using PeopleTools, Application Engine, App Messaging, SQR
Develop and maintain Integrated task plan for all enhancement requests and communicate with end user community
Manage project issues related to Scope Change, Resource and Time Constraints
Identify project risks in advance and proactively Mitigate these risks with appropriate steps (Business impact, alternative options, pros/cons, recommendations)
Mentor and provide on-project learning opportunity for team members
Create a robust Development and Delivery Standards
Understand company direction to design systems that will support key initiatives
Manage and deploy deliverable through a phased methodology
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
BA/BS from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in finance, accounting, business administration, business operations/information systems management, computer science or related field
8 years experience in HCM Implementation Support, systems planning, implementation, maintenance, reporting, and/or problem diagnosis; or any equivalent combination of experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
Licensing:
This position may require that you hold a valid insurance license. Failure to pass the insurance license exam or an inability to obtain or maintain the required license(s) will result in forfeiture of the position.
If you are not currently licensed, but have taken and failed the insurance licensing exam or have otherwise been unable to complete the licensing application processyou will not be considered for this position.
